Votiva: Benefits of Pelvic Health and Feminine Care

Women’s health is a very important priority in my practice. As a urologist, half of my patients are women. Female health is so important in urology that it is an integral part of our residency training.

Pelvic health, until recently, has not been a priority for most doctors. Women have endured years of chronic dryness, pain, itching, recurrent infections, loss of sensation and loss of pleasurable intimacy without help or even answers to their concerns. Fortunately, there are now available many new treatments including Votiva, a radio frequency energy which gently induces tissues to undergo a healthy transformation.

Radiofrequency energy has been in use for medical purposes for nearly 100 years. When too little is applied, nothing much happens. When a great deal is applied, tissue destruction occurs, which can be useful for removing unwanted growths or tumors. But when just the right amount of energy is applied to gently heat human tissue to a target level, a cascade of healing and transformation occurs. At the cellular level, protein synthesis begins, and the body begins to build new, healthy tissue. Scientific studies confirm the growth of new collagen, new blood vessels, and new nerve endings which appear very soon after treatment.

Votiva is an advance in the delivery of radio frequency energy. The discreet wand, designed to treat a woman’s most intimate spaces, provides safe and gentle energy, reminiscent of the feeling of a hot stone massage. No anesthesia is necessary. A full treatment is completed in a 20 to 30 minute session. 3 treatments are required to deliver the greatest benefits, spacing the treatments at 4-6 weeks apart.

The response from my patients undergoing this treatment has been overwhelmingly positive. For those seeking help with intimacy, their confidence has been restored that they will once again be able to enjoy a healthy sex life. For women suffering from chronic urinary infections, Votiva can help to restore conditions to support healthy bacteria where they are most needed. For women with overactive bladders or leakage during coughing and sneezing, Votiva can diminish or eliminate wetness.

These recent articles confirmed the scientific benefit to be gained:

Role of Radiofrequency (Votiva, InMode) in Pelvic Floor Restoration

This recent article looked at the results after treatment of 50 women with the Votiva radio frequency device. The majority completed all 3 treatments with significant improvement in their pelvic floor motor function.

Histologic and Clinical Changes in Vulvovaginal Tissue After Treatment With a Transcutaneous Temperature-Controlled Radiofrequency Device

This article confirms by biopsy, the beneficial tissue transformation in 10 women after treatment with radio frequency.

Review and clinical experience exploring evidence, clinical efficacy, and safety regarding nonsurgical treatment of feminine rejuvenation

This article confirms both the safety and efficacy of the radio frequency modalities for female pelvic floor therapy and rejuvenation.

Many more examples from the scientific literature could be cited here, which all seem to support the benefits of the Votiva therapy I have seen in my own patients. This exciting new advance in the non surgical treatment of women is currently available. Hopefully, those women who are now suffering from any of the several pelvic health conditions mentioned above will seek the help that is now available.
